You're never too old to hit the gym, the pool - or even learn to bellydance, as it turns out. On May 26, in honor of National Older Americans Month and National Senior Health and Fitness Day, The Watermark at 3030 Park in Bridgeport is hosting a day of free activities, presentations and more, including a belly dancing lesson with Brazilian-born instructor Najla (well, why not? It's low-impact exercise, after all.). Cindy Fallon McGuire, Fitness Director at The Watermark, will lead a variety of other classes such as a "Wacky Water Workout" in the pool, "Workout Buddies," which will teach seniors how to safely use exercise equipment with a partner, and "Dance For Your Heart," a slow-paced aerobic workshop. You can also learn about how your thoughts influence the way your body moves from physical therapist and Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner Julie Connery-Smith, who will guide participants through a sequence of gentle movements meant to increase physical awareness. The first class of the day is at 9:30 a.m., the last will be at 2:30 p.m. All will be held in The Watermark's Vitality Fitness Center. For more information or to RSVP, call 203-374-5611.
