Predictions indicate a hot summer, but most temperatures in the Northeast are expected to remain about average, according to Accuweather.com. More rainy storm activity is predicted during the second half of the summer, which would likely limit temperature extremes due to moisture from the Gulf and Atlantic Ocean.
The warmest and driest parts of the summer in Fairfield County are forecast for June and into July, Accuweather said.
However, the weather service is predicting strong tropical storms this hurricane season – June 1 to Nov. 30 – with the possibility of storms that could reach Category 2 or higher. This year could also set the stage for stronger storms than those that occurred in 2012.
But this week is expected to be mostly sunny, and the temperature is predicted to stay in the 80s during the day, according to the National Weather Service.
Monday is predicted to be mostly sunny with patchy fog in the morning; partly cloudy skies are expected to move in at night. On Tuesday, the weather is forecast to be partly sunny, and again, cloudy at night.
The National Weather Service's forecast says Wednesday to begin partly sunny and then become mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, leading into Thursday.
