Sample a Slice of Saugatuck

Fairfield County might have lost Westport’s famed Festival Italiano, but Saugatuck isn’t giving up the food festival ghost altogether. Saturday, Sept. 17, from noon to 3:00 p.m., A Slice of Saugatuck is your chance to discover or rediscover some of this historic neighborhood’s hidden gastronomic gems for free.

At least 22 restaurants and retailers are signed on to participate in this afternoon event. The Black Duck, Rizzuto’s Brick Oven, The Boathouse, Tarantino and Saugatuck’s newest addition, Mario Batali’s Tarry Lodge, are all offering tastes and samples of what they do best. Saugatuck Grain and Grape and Saugatuck Wine and Spirits will both offer wine tastings. And the kids can dig on more than pizza; the antique fire engine at the Saugatuck Fire House will be on display. Head down and Walk the Slice!

If you’re looking for parking, you’ll find it on Riverside Ave., in RR lot #5.
