Saks Lights Up the Night for a Good Cause

Saks spread holiday sparkle and a charitable spirit with a fashion event to benefit the international charity Save the Children. Saks general manager, Billie Messina, welcomed the standing room only crowd. “We’re so proud to host this benefit for Save the Children for the second year in a row,” she said.

Event co-chair, Shonu Pande, explained Save the Children’s “Survive to Five” program, which the evening was designed to support. “One dollar will buy an antibiotic course for a week for a child with pneumonia,” she told the packed showroom. “So what you do here tonight will make a very real difference in the lives of children across the globe.”

Following the remarks, guests sipped champagne while volunteer models strode out in some of the latest looks Saks has to offer. The models, all affiliated with Save the Children, walked the catwalk to holiday music. The mood was festive and guests were inspired to shop by Saks’ commitment to donate ten percent of the evening’s sales to Save the Children.

Model Deanna Bastianich was the picture of grace in a Moschino Cheap and Chic animal print dress and matching sweater. “This is my second year modeling for this event,” said Deanna.

Luz Agrest exuded elegance in a one shoulder Gucci twist on the little black dress, complemented by a signature Saks fur shoulder wrap. “It’s just wonderful to see so many people here to support the work of Save the Children,” Luz said. “And it’s fun to wear these beautiful clothes. This Gucci dress is gorgeous.”
