Roving Truck Brings Treats to Pets (and Humans)

The ice cream truck was insulting enough: what good could any self-respecting dog find in that (beyond, perhaps chasing it)? Then came those food trucks, which neglected to take into account that dogs would appreciate some attention, too. Well, it's time for dogs to have their day. Connecticut and New York: the Best Friends Pet Care Treat Truck is rolling into a town near you.

"Rolling food trucks (for people) are one of the hottest trends around. So we thought it would be great to bring the same fun and excitement of a food truck, loaded with delicious pet treats to pets everywhere," says Renee Coughlin, of Best Friends Pet Care.

The truck took its maiden voyage this weekend in Fairfield County and soon will be visiting dog parks and downtowns in Norwalk, Wilton, Westport, Ridgefield, Rowayton and Stamford. It will then be traveling to cities in Westchester County, including White Plains, Harrison, New Rochelle, Elmsford and Ossining among them.

Coughlin grew up with a dog and now has 15 month-old Belle, a Lab who accompanies her to work every day. Like most pet owners, she adores her dog, but she knows that humans look forward to rewards of their own. "Of course," says Coughlin, "We haven't forgotten about the pet parents who come to see us. We have delicious Balance Bars and chocolate turtles to give to folks when they bring their pets to our Treat Truck."
