Rizzuto's Expands to a Fourth Location

Bill Rizzuto is going back to his roots. His successful, eponymous collection of Italian eateries, Rizzuto’s, is poised to open a fourth location next month. And the latest spot is on the Stamford/Greenwich line, not far from where Rizzuto used to work as a general manager of the Hyatt Hotel.

“When I resigned to start a restaurant, people thought I was crazy," Rizzuto told me in a 2010 interview. "People said, 'You worked so hard to get where you are. What are you doing?' But I'm independent. I have an entrepreneurial spirit. I was pretty sure I could do this."

His fourth restaurant is located at 1980 West Main St. in Stamford (formerly Route 22 American Restaurant), and reportedly seats up to 160 people. Like Rizzuto’s locations in Westport, Bethel and West Hartford, the Stamford restaurant will operate with the same dedication to home-style Italian cooking, baking bread, making pasta in-house and using flour imported from Naples to create Rizzuto’s signature pizza crust.

Look for Rizzuto’s Stamford to open its doors before the holidays.
