You've never been pulled over for a speeding ticket and have never been in even a fender bender. But your clean driving record notwithstanding, your own safe driving isn't the biggest factor in determining auto insurance rates. There are other factors beyond your control, namely your address.
One major factor that determines insurance premiums is geography, as auto insurance is more expensive in some states than others. Insure.com recently released its annual national insurance-rate survey, which ranked all 50 states, plus the District of Columbia, by auto-insurance rates.
