Pret-a-Porter: Fashion's Night Out Goes Greenwich

Fashion’s Night Out is one of the most celebrated fashion events of the year -- in Greenwich and beyond. Designers, retailers, and shoppers come together to shop, dish, and support their local economies. This year, the event sashays onto the scene Sept. 8, and things will heat up on Greenwich Avenue in honor of the occasion.

“Last year was the first year we rolled it out in Greenwich,” Geri Corrigan, director of marketing for the Greenwich Saks Fifth Avenue, said at a press conference this week. “This year, we’re very excited that First Selectman Peter Tesei agreed to be the honorary chairman of Fashion’s Night Out.”

Shoppers will be beckoned with a late night of style, makeovers, music and more. Stores, salons, galleries, restaurants, banks and other businesses will host afterhours events, sales, specials and shopping. And Greenwich Avenue will transform into a chic runway with models strutting the red carpet.

“It’s an exciting opportunity for the town of Greenwich to showcase our prime retail district,” Tesei said. “And to particularly celebrate what’s unique about the downtown and that is all the wonderful stores and specialty retailers.”

Fashion's Night Out is one night only, so you’re either in or you’re out. Mark your calendar, dust off your best pair of Manolos and make your mark "on the Ave." I have a feeling this is going to be good.

“You name it, we have it,” said Tesei. “And we’re looking forward to showcasing it.”
