Prepare Yourself for Automotive Emergency

Although the current hurricane season has yet to flare up to its stormy potential, sever summer storms are always a possibility. Being prepared is an essential in successfully navigating a stressful and potentially dangerous situation, and having the ability to act quickly and correctly can help keep you and your children safe.

If you are going on a trip, you may want to get that tune up you've been putting off. At the very least, have the oil checked and your car examined by a professional. And remember to keep and updated and full emergency kit in your vehicle at all times

If you do find yourself in a roadside emergency:

* Pull all the way to the right side of the highway whenever possible, while doing your best to stay on the pavement;

* If it is safe to do so, remove pets and children from the car and move them to a safe distance. If you are on a busy highway, however, it might be safer to remain in the car until help arrives;

* Exit the car using the door farthest from oncoming traffic.

* If you have emergency flares or cones, try to place them near your vehicle be sure to use them before you attend to your vehicle.

Be prepared, as the Boy Scouts like to say.
