Have you ever been to a fancy party and wondered how the hostess pulled it together without having a nervous breakdown? Ask Michele Sinacore. Shell tell you that an event manager, like her, was probably working somewhere behind the scenes.
The Briarcliff Manor, N.Y. resident worked for many years in the world of corporate media, planning large events for companies such as Yahoo!, ESPN and the Discovery Channel. I used to help clients develop sponsorship and entertainment strategies, she says.
After moving out of Manhattan, Michele started her own event planning business, Michele Sinacore Events, and now has corporate and social clients across Westchester and Fairfield counties.
Perhaps the most important service she offers is helping clients come up with a theme or idea for a party. Once we have the theme then we can decide the best décor and the type of food and entertainment, she says. Michele will even help with guest lists.
How Michele prepares a home for a party changes every time. For an intimate evening, such as a dinner party, she might rent nice linens and fancy dishware. Larger events with entertainment might require rearranging furniture. I always work with the clients own things to enhance their home, she says.
Over the recent holidays she created a Christmas in New York party in a private home, redecorating five rooms on the main floor. The living room was designed to look like The Plazas hotel lobby. The dining room became Tiffanys jewelry store with a sparkling candy buffet.
Once the details have been nailed down, Michele assumes the role of manager, coordinating caterers, musicians and florists. She can also help those who have done the legwork on their own. I take over so that the hosts can actually attend their own party, she says.
