Joseph, Michael and Frank Rocco, brothers and the owners of New Canaans latest hot spot, Pine Social, heard through the grapevine that the New York Times regional dining section (this past Sunday) thinks their latest culinary endeavor is Worth It. Restaurant reviewer Patricia Brooks gave the contemporary American spot her second highest rating, calling homey and original items such as the creamy lobster mac n cheese.
Pine Social in New Canaan has been at the top of my must try list for the New Year. Formerly Roccos Italian Kitchen, Pine Social is a gastronomic reinvention for these seasoned restaurateurs, the Rocco brothers. Chef Adam Truelove is the mastermind behind the menu, and with good reason. He is a graduate of the French Culinary Institute graduate with an impressive resume, including work in Manhattans Esca and LEscale in Greenwich.
Patricias piece follows on the heels of local foodie Frank Cohens photo essay and profile at Connecticut Food Notes, compiled from a press dinner he attended at Pine Social. Frank described it as sleek and upscale. And he enjoyed the food so much that he went back a second time, and used such words as beautifully balanced and tasty to describe his meal.
My own visit to Pine Social is on the horizon, and after all this tasty talk, Im looking forward to it more than ever. Make sure you check back here for a neighborly take on this local rising star.
Have you tried Pine Social yet? Id love to know what you dishes you think I should try when I vist. Tell me here, or email me at mmorelli@mainstreetconnect.us.
