Friday, April 22 is Earth Day, and though the "Wheels" section of this newspaper usually covers all things automotive, I'd like to use the space to promote two wheels instead of four. In celebration of Earth Day 2011, I hope you will consider riding your bike either to the office, the park or to the corner store.
This Earth Day, leave your car on the street or in your garage. Start at Google Maps and choose "bike." It will highlight the best way for you to explore your community or get to work. Consider it an imposed opportunity to peruse local Rails to Trails paths. Who knows? You might choose two wheels over four for more than just one day per year.
Remember to follow the rules of the road. Always wear a helmet and never use a cell phone or headphones while riding.
