  • Keep all pets away from fireworks displays.
  • Secure pets inside during fireworks displays.
  • Put the radio or television on to distract them from hearing fireworks.
  • Do not play fetch with fireworks. They can severely injure or kill a pet when they explode .

Loud noise phobias can cause pets to bite someone out of fear. Pets may also run away if they become too afraid. The Humane Society of United States, said that on the Fourth of July, so many pets are frightened and try to escape the sights and sounds that animal shelters around the nation report a dramatic increase in lost pets during the holiday.

Another reason to keep pets away from the celebrations of summer is heat. High temperatures put pets at risk of heat stroke, which can become deadly very quickly, the society said.

Never leave a pet in a parked car. Even when the temperature outside is just 72 degrees, the temperature inside a car can rocket to a fatal 116 degrees in less than an hour, they added.

Signs of noise phobias in dogs are ears in a downward position, trembling, tail tucked between legs, heavy panting or heavy drooling. There are medications and techniques that might help alleviate a pet's fear and anxiety. Check with a veterinarian.

The Humane Society added that the best policy is to leave pets securely at home during holiday fireworks.
