Norwalk Café Takes Breakfast to a New Level

There are breakfast sandwiches, and then there are flakey, savory pockets of rosemary-infused heaven that you can pick up and eat with your hands. Wave Hill Breads, the cozy new Norwalk café just off the beaten path on High St., is serving the latter. In fact, they just might have created the perfect breakfast sandwich.

Hyperbole, you say. Impossible. A breakfast sandwich is still a breakfast sandwich, after all.

Not so. At least, not as far as this foodie is concerned.

What makes it so ridiculously good? It’s tough to know where to begin. The eggs are scrambled and fluffy, with an aged cheddar folded in. The hearty, thickly sliced bacon is applewood smoked and then baked, rather than pan fried, effectively taking the grease out of the gastronomic equation.

But it doesn’t end here. You can—and dare I say you really should—add a fire roasted poblano pepper to your sandwich, which really elevates the whole meal to fiesta status. For the finishing touch, have all this goodness stuffed into a fresh baked, flakey rosemary croissant.

Talk about morning glory. You may never want to try another breakfast sandwich again after eating this one.

While you’re there and comfortably ensconced in your breakfast fiesta food coma, you can shop the Wave Hill mini-market, packed with local gourmet items like Mamacat's Q. Teas from Wilton and Hoardable Hotsauces made in Stamford. You can even bring the kids for a weekend brunch.

Rumor has it, the French Toast is pretty good, too.

Wave Hill Breads Café is located at 30 High St. in Norwalk.
