Nissan has issued a voluntary safety recall of some 2012 Armada and Titan vehicles. The Armada is a large sport utility vehicle; the Titan is a full-size pickup truck.
The issue, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, is that labels on the vehicles do not contain information on the size of wheel rims that should be used.
"The omission of the rim size may lead to an incorrect tire/wheel combination which may increase the likelihood of a crash," the NHTSA says in a notice on its website. (Reference NHTSA campaign ID No. 12V143000 to find the notice.)
According to the notice, the affected vehicles were manufactured at Nissans Canton, Miss., plant from Aug. 12, 2011, through March 13, 2012.
Beginning Monday, May 14, owners of vehicles included in the recall may get labels installed for free at Nissan dealerships. Nissan also will send customers the labels with instructions on how to install them. Vehicle owners may call Nissan at 615-725-1000.
