Nissan Leaf Named 2011 World Car of the Year

The all-electric Nissan Leaf was named Car of the Year for 2011 at the New York International Auto Show on Thursday morning. The Leaf, which went on sale in the United States in December 2010, beat two popular models for the top nod: the BMW 5-Series and the Audi A8.

Despite its high honors and brisk sales, the Leaf won't be available in Connecticut for a while. Anthony Thomas, sales associate at Bruce Bennett Nissan in Wilton, said: "We're not going to have them in the showroom until the end of the year."

I'll make sure to give you the Leaf availability lowdown as soon I learn more.
