New Study Sheds Light on Dangers of Tanning Beds

A Yale University team of researchers has found that the use of tanning beds by people 40 years old and over increases risk of basal cell carcinoma by 69 percent.

The study, published by the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, shows risk increases with the amount of tanning bed use.

Researchers also found that nearly 25 percent of all cases of basal cell carcinoma, a cancer whose prevalence is on the rise, would have been prevented had indoor tanning beds never been used.
