Alfya Murtazina has come a long way since her days as an esthetician student when she learned to mix skin care products and potions. A native of Russia, she trained there and learned the alchemy of beauty. Nothing came prepackaged, says Murtazina. We learned the science and purpose to all of the natural ingredients we utilized while caring for our clients skin needs.
Since then, much has changed for Murtazina, including the country she calls home. But this Fairfield County resident with 20 years in the beauty business hasnt changed her commitment to natural beauty. She has just launched a mineral-based line of cosmetics and a botanical skin care line through her one-year-old New Canaan spa, Alfya Skin Care.
Why her own line of products? For starters, Murtazina says that recommending existing products to her clients was becoming increasingly difficult, mainly because the ingredients were straying further and further from the natural and basic ingredients with which she was educated and on which she has come to rely. Not finding the effective and natural skin care solutions that she sought for her clients, she decided to develop them herself.
