You don't want to make them? Garelick and Herbs has them, and their latkes are out of this world. The crispy potato pancakes, which could compete with those of anyone's "bubbeh," come in both traditional and sweet potato varieties.
This is obviously a very busy time of year for us, says Desiree Parker, a catering consultant at the Westport Garelick and Herbs location. And Hanukkah kind of snuck up on people this year, coming so quickly after Thanksgiving. So weve had a lot of people coming in to grab things at the last minute, like the latkes.
Jose Rivera, a Garelick and Herbs' chef for the last 12 years, is responsible for the tasty latkes. Hes terrific, says Desiree. Hes very detail-oriented, so he handles a lot of the more delicate appetizers. All our chefs have their particular talents, and Jose is very good at making things look as good as they taste.
So, if youre in a pinch and need some potato pancakes -- or other holiday treats -- rush over to one of Garelick and Herbs three locations. Youll find a dozen latkes for $16, along with some homemade apple sauce to accompany them.
Its hard to pick a favorite food here, says Desiree. Everything is delicious. But the carrot cake is pretty terrific.
Garelick and Herbs, owned by Paula and Jason Garelick, has stores in Westport, New Canaan and Greenwich.
