If youve ever shopped for furniture in Fairfield County, youve probably been into Lillian August. The two stores in Norwalk, a brand new store in Manhattan on W. 20th St. and a second new store in Culver City, California, have a vast collection of furniture, lighting and accessories in styles to suit any taste. And if you need help figuring out what to buy, the store offers top-notch interior design services.
But what you may not know, is that Dan and John Weiss, owners of the store with their mother, Lillian August, regularly open the doors to help those in need.
On Thursday the store hosted a benefit for Westports Project Return, a group home that helps teenage girls in crisis rebuild their lives. We like to get involved in our community, said Dan, who lives in Westport with wife Lorin Klaris Weiss, a photographer, and their three children. Our store is available to people and organizations who need a location to run an event. Among the many beneficiaries of the Weiss generosity is Giant Steps, the Norwalk Chamber of Commerce and Hadassah, as well as breast cancer support organizations. My wife, Lorin, is very involved in Project Return and this is the fourth year weve run this benefit party, he added.
