Kate Spade is synonymous with style. Beloved for her spirited-but-sophisticated designs, Kate Spade is a go-to label for the fashion savvy. And now, her bright new storefront is now open on Westports Main Street, just in time for the holidays.
The lively, lovely shop matches Kate Spades signature whimsy. Colorful wallpaper in multiple patterns, wraps around the elegant space where Kate Spades latest looks are artfully displayed. I asked Laura Payne, the sales manager for the new location, to give me a tour and show me whats on Kate Spades hot list this holiday season.
This collection is fantastic, Laura says. The inspiration is vintage, but like always, shes made things very contemporary. The iPhone covers are flying out of here. Thats no surprise. The covers are sleek but playfully patterned. There is an adorable polka dotted case I would have snagged for myself if I were further along in my holiday shopping for everyone else.
The continental wallets are also a terrific item, Laura says, opening one of the leather pouches. Theyre thin enough to serve as a wallet, but large enough to slide in an iPhone and some lipgloss, so it doubles as a clutch.
We also have a brand new fragrance thats out for the holidays, called Twirl. She sprays a sample card so I can give Twirl a whirl. Its a light, clean feminine scent, perfectly matched to Kate Spades tailored-but-flirty look. And, according to Laura, the Twirl gift sets have been spinning straight out the door.
The community has been so receptive and welcoming, says Laura. The customers are just so happy were here, and they always say that they really love the look of the store.
As for Laura, a recent transplant from Manhattan, shes happy in her new retail home as well. I can see the water from the cash wrap. You cant beat that.
