India and France Collide at Wine Dinner

Coromandel South Norwalk, the celebrated Indian food mecca whose sister locations extend from New Rochelle to Orange, offers a unique opportunity each month to explore its exotic cuisine through wine pairing dinners. On Wednesday, June 30, owner-operator Gopi Nair and his Chef Chaminda showcase some of their most exquisite, spice-infused dishes through the looking glass of French wines.

"I had been dodging this pairing," said Nair. "Indian food is difficult to match with French wine. But we're very excited about the menu we've created and we think wine enthusiasts will really enjoy it."

Included on the menu are seafood, poultry and lamb selections. Examples include lump crab-stuffed sole masala with a citrus cream sauce served with a 2008 Domaine du Salvard Cheverny from the Loire Valley, and chicken breast cooked in an aromatic, spicy curry sauce accompanied by Chateau Roland la Garde 2005 Bordeaux.

The dinner is offered by reservation only at a cost of $50 per person (excluding tax and tip). Guests will begin the evening with cocktails and creative hors d'oeuvres at the bar followed by a 4-course dinner paired with appropriately matched French wines. For reservations call 203-852-1213.
