"Inclusion" Event Promotes Communication

Catherine Hogan’s Inclusion Teaming program is catching on. Inclusion Teaming, a Westport-based non-profit organization, offers training in communication to students with both typical and atypical skills. Programs teach students how to understand -- and work with -- the communication differences that exist among them. Ms. Hogan helps her high school-aged students learn how communication differences are related to brain wiring. The program promotes the fact that learning is circular, and all the students learn from each other.

On Wednesday, Jan. 19, 5:30 to 6:45 p.m., students from Inclusion Teaming will gather with guest panelists at an event, "Reaching for What You Need.” The three guest students, who have Asperger’s Syndrome, volunteer at the Focus Alternative Learning Center in Canton, Conn.

The program is free and a light dinner will be provided. Attendees must make a reservation in advance, and must be accompanied by a child with a spectrum diagnosis. For more information, please call (203) 254-0100 or send an email to info@inclusionteaming.org.
