Honda Throws Parade for Million-Mile Accord

When your odometer hits a milestone of, say, 22,222.2 or 33,333.3 miles, it’s a giddy little moment that lasts for less than a minute. That is, until the next digit rolls in to upend the perfect string of sameness.

But when Joe LoCicero drove one million miles in his 1990 Honda Accord, his town of Saco, Maine threw him a surprise parade. Yes, a parade, complete with an airplane banner and float  -- with a giant odometer made up of six people who were spinning giant hamster wheels. At the end of the marching festivities, Miss Maine presented LoCicero with the keys to a new 2012 Accord, courtesy of American Honda.

You can still get excited when you hit 22,222.2, but it’s not likely anyone will be throwing you a parade.
