Dr. Veronica Waks, a naturopathic physician, will hold a discussion about causes and symptoms of menopause on Dec. 1 at 6:00 p.m. at the Norma F. Pfriem Breast Care Center, 111 Beach Road in Fairfield.
Most illnesses are the bodys reaction to a stressful, toxic environment and unwise lifestyle choices, Waks says.
"Only a small percentage is due entirely to genetic pre-disposition. Most illness can therefore be prevented by conscious life-style choices, says Waks.
Eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly and managing stress in professional life and personal relationships are keys to preventing illness, she says.
While practicing conventional medicine, Waks says, she became concerned about some side effects of certain medicines and began studying natural and alternative methods. Prior to earning her doctorate in naturopathic medicine, she received a medical degree from Vladivostok Medical University.
Admission to the talk is free, but space is limited. Call Nancy at 203-255-5469, for more information.
