Help Your Bad Roads to Live in Infamy

Are you still running into hip-deep potholes during your commute to work? Do you think you live – or regularly drive on – the worst stretch of road in America? Now you can share your opinion. Popular Mechanics magazine is asking readers to submit their worst local road to the magazine via email.

Here are a few stipulations. Along with your contact information you’ll need to submit some photos or a video to illustrate just how bad the road is. You’ll have to provide the location information (GPS coordinates or mile-marker designation for the worst one-mile stretch), as well as a description of the road’s condition.

The road you’re submitting must be state-level or above (no private roads). It must have been neglected for several months, as well as paved and located within the United States.

When the magazine receives a “critical mass” of submissions, they’ll narrow the field down to the top five. They’ll then send a team of drivers with sophisticated equipment to inspect the finalists, and to make their own assessment of which road is the worst. The results will be published in a future issue. There is no cash prize for the winner, but sweet revenge counts for something.
