He Built This Bucket from Scratch

Ask Angelo Silvestro how long it's taken him to build his 1923 Ford T-Bucket and he won't give you a specific number. "Many years," he says, shaking his head. "Many years. I built this thing from scratch!"

His finished product looks highly authentic, though the steering wheel is the only part actually made in the 20's. The rest of the features are replicas ordered from various sources, Angelo says. "You can buy anything these days." Angelo departed from the model when it came to the wheels, which seem as though they'd be more at home on a monster truck. Those sturdy tires are important for balance, he says. "This is a fast car, but it's not stable past 70 miles per hour. You can't really take it on the highway."

Angelo, a Norwalk resident with his own towing business, planned to enter his T-Bucket in this year's car show at Calf Pasture but the event was rained out. Now he's trying to sell his automotive masterpiece (asking price: around $30K). Maybe next year's show? Nah, says Angelo.

"I'm not planning on doing another one like this anytime soon," he says. "I love it, but it's just too time-consuming."
