Hair Feathers Take Flight for Fall

When I was growing up, feathered hair was big—both in terms of trends and actual hair volume. This fall, feathered hair is back, sort of.

Feathered friends have been crowding local salons and boutiques since the summer, requesting custom color combinations with ornithological accents. The trend doesn't seem to be heading south for the winter.

According to Bunny Sempe of Elan Total Beauty Center in Stamford, Conn., the extensions are very low maintenance. "You can wash your hair and style it like you always do," Sempe told me at a recent event at Agabhumi, the Best of Bali, where she was offering the feather extensions. "And they're very quick to put in."

Julius Michael Scarsdale Hair Salon noted on a blog post that the feathered accents are "super sexy, super hot and super fun."

Why not widen your style wingspan and try feathered extensions this season? No Aqua Net aerosol spray required.
