Habitat Seeks A Few Good Women

Have you always wished you had the skills to fix things around the house instead of paying an arm and a leg to someone who gets the job done in 10 minutes? Here's your chance to add "handywoman" to your resumé.

Habitat for Humanity is looking for a few good women to help sponsor and build the next Women Build home, which will be in Stamford. This is a home to be built by women, funded by women and owned by a single mom.

The Women Build program encourages and empowers women to make a difference by building homes and communities. Women learn construction skills on the work site under the supervision of Habitat staff and task leaders. If you’ve always wanted to wield a nail gun, this one's for you.

The local branch of Women Build is a coalition of Fairfield County women who have accepted the challenge of eliminating substandard housing in their community. The women volunteer their time to raise the funds to build the house. And then they get together to build it.

If you want to learn more, come and meet the Habitat and Women Build team at Stamford’s Black Bear Saloon, 261 Main Street, Thursday March 24 from 6-8 p.m. RSVP by email to volunteer@habitatcfc.org or telephone (203) 383 4358. I’m going, so I hope to see you there.
