Gray Goose Owners Gander Westport Locale

If you’re worth your weight as a Fairfield County foodie, you’ve likely already sampled the superlative Ahi Tuna tacos at Southport’s beloved Gray Goose restaurant.

If you’re a fan of Kevin McHugh and Tommy Febbraio’s upscale, casual cuisine, then take heart. You’ll soon have another location to enjoy their buzz-worthy culinary talents. The duo recently signed a lease at the historic Sherwood House at 26-28 Church Lane in Westport, across the street from the YMCA. If you’ve driven past the spot, you know that renovations are under way.

Febbraio recently spoke to The Feast about his latest labor of gastronomic love. “It’s not gonna be a Gray Goose. It’s Old World meets New World,” Febbraio says. It will be “a very energized, eclectic atmosphere. We’re really trying to bring some energy to downtown Westport. We’ll serve English-style brews and upscale bar fare -- instead of traditional fish and chips, we might do fish and chips in a tempura beer batter.”

The pair’s latest endeavor will join the growing ranks of new culinary must-tries on the red-hot Westport dining scene. Febbraio also pointed out that one of the main goals is to make the spot affordable, a reflection of “our distressed economic times.”

A new restaurant that’s delicious and affordable? I think I speak for many Fairfield County residents when I say, “bring it.”

Look for an opening before the end of the year.
