Go Long for Summer

Summer 2011 is the summer of long, luscious hairstyles. Beachy, wavy locks are the epitome of summer sex appeal.

But what’s a girl with a preppy bob to do if she wants to jump on this sultry summertime style? Go longer with hair extensions, of course.

“You’ve come a long way, baby! And so have hair extensions,” writes Gail Sagel of Faces Beautiful, a Westport, Conn. beauty bar and hair salon. “At first, hair extensions were made of synthetic locks and didn’t wash, wear, or style all that well.”

But Gail goes on to explain that the new millennium of hair extensions is a brave, beautiful new world. “That’s all changed now. New techniques, new types of extensions and better quality hair means that extensions look better than ever.”

With so many options available to lengthen your locks, you don’t want to waste your time with anything less than the best. Faces Beautiful offers many options, but Gail has a favorite.

“There is a sandwich bonding method, which I love,” she says. “It utilizes two pieces of extension hair about one inch in width with your hair in between, like an ice cream sandwich.” The effect, Gail swears, is smooth and comfortable, and lies flat against your head, blending in with your natural hair, for a nothing-but-gorgeous look.
