Between crowded meter spots and overpriced garages, trying to find a parking space in a busy city neighborhood can be a major headache. Add holiday crowds to the mix and you’ve got a recipe for parking space rage – if such a thing exists.

Following are some perfect, and perfectly inexpensive, Internet apps to give a driver who is unlucky in finding free parking spaces. It might make having to pay for a space a little easier to bear. If not, it will certainly lead an easier time finding that elusive space.

Primo-Spot:This app offers block-by-block real-time information on street parking rules, parking lot locations and parking fees. But you’re out of luck if you don’t live in Boston, New York or Seattle. (Available in iPhone, Android, Blackberry).

Parkbud: This app, which uses GPS technology to help you locate your parked car, is kind enough send you alerts when your meter’s about to expire. It will help you remember to feed your meter, as long as you don’t forget to set its alarm. (Available for iOS only). Parkdroid is available for Android users.

Parking in Motion: This app has maps that that pinpoint 26,000 locations in 330 cities, and will direct you to those facilities with cheapest rates. (For iPhone and Android.)
