Gifts to Give your Favorite Gearhead

You were going to start your shopping early and be finished by now, right? But the Big Day of Giving is only a jingle bell away and you've got nothing to give the car-lover in your family. I'm here to dig you out of a pothole. Here are a few noteworthy holiday gifts, complete with handy links, you can grab for a car-crazed spouse.

XM Snap In-Vehicle Radio. The XM Snap adds satellite radio to your vehicle with just, well, a snap. Plug it into the car's power adapter socket (remember when cars had cigarette lighters?), connect the antenna and you can listen to SIRIUS XM through the existing vehicle radio. And you get all that for about $40.

Schumacher Charger/Maintainer. This fully automatic, microprocessor-controlled battery charger self-adjusts, and supports different charge rates for everyday juicing needs, and it helps maintain your car battery. It'll set you back about $40.

Breathkey Breathalizer tester. Few people would write a letter to Santa asking for this little goody, but at less than one ounce, it's the world's smallest and lightest breath alcohol tester. It's also the only consumer breathalyzer that uses fuel cell sensor technology (the same type used in police equipment), so it's been certified by the FDA to be plus or minus 0.010 percent at 0.080 percent blood alcohol content. Not bad for about $70.

Deluxe Warrior Car Kit. This isn't your father's emergency car kit (if he even had one). At about $85, this is the real deal, considering it's an all-about-survival kit. It's got more inside than Mary Poppins' carpet bag. Nuclear winter? Yawn. You're covered.

Craftsman Ratcheting Wrench Set. If your car-lover does all the work herself, Sears Craftsman's open-end ratchet wrenches feature allow her to fit into tight spots with the open end without taking the wrench off the fastener, making jobs faster and easier. It's a wrench and a ratchet. And it's only about $25.
