Garden With Kids

This year, as in previous years, my daughter and I have planted a small garden where we’re growing some of our favorite foods, such as cherry tomatoes, basil and rosemary. Gardening with kids is a wonderful way to encourage them to eat better, and invest them in everything from caring for plants to harvesting to cooking.

Whether you have acres of land, or just a simple balcony, you can create a vegetable and herb garden with your kids that will encourage them to eat what they grow. And though it’s already mid-June, it isn’t too late to get started. Area garden stores and supermarkets have plenty of potted gems to get you started. Just pick out favorites with your kids, purchase, transplant, add water and watch your little ones transform into local farmers.
