NORWALK, Conn. – Are you craving cones, those popular fried mashed potato bites? Simply bring a new unwrapped toy, gift card, gloves or warm hat to any Garden Catering location in Connecticut from now until Sunday and get a $10 Garden Catering gift card.
You can buy cones – or anything else on the menu — with the gift card.
Over 500 unused toys were donated in last year's drive, according to Frank Carpenteri Jr., owner of Garden Catering.
"It was an amazing effort all around, " said Carpenteri, "with many longtime customers dropping off multiple gifts, and even Garden Catering employees pitching in to donate toys.
"We are lucky to be part of communities that care so much about their neighbors, which is why I think the drive worked so well last year."
Carpenteri sees his stores as a community gathering place, and he says this is their opportunity to help those less fortunate.
For years, Garden Catering has helped charities across Fairfield County with various fundraisers and donations. Since 2010, Garden Catering has given back over $100,000 to local nonprofits. This year’s proceeds will be benefit Neighbor to Neighbor and Kids in Crisis.
"There are thousands of residents right here in Greenwich who struggle to make ends meet," said Nancy Coughlin, executive director of Neighbor to Neighbor, "and for them, the holidays can mean extra anxiety. This drive will ease their burden and put smiles on the faces of their children."
Garden Catering has five Connecticut locations: Fairfield, Greenwich, Norwalk, Old Greenwich, and Stamford. For more information, contact 203-698-2900 or gardencatering.com.
