Garage Upgrade Outfit Creates Attitude

It's part "Extreme Makeover," with add a dash of "This Old House." But whatever way you choose to characterize it, Attitude Garage's co-owner, RJ Lorenzi has his own corner of the carport upgrade niche. "Your garage is the most neglected room of the house," he says. "In today's economy, people are staying in their homes. Upgrading your garage adds value to your home, too."

Upgrade is somewhat of an understatement when it comes to Attitude's services. Owners Lorenzi, his wife, Starr and their partners Lee and Tracy Montanari, take garage organization to a whole different level. While some homeowners consider de-cluttering a garage space so that a car (or two) can actually fit into it, Attitude creates a vibrant space when the clutter-dust settles, complete with many accoutrements not usually associated with the ho-hum garage. "We do it all, from car lifts, wet bars, murals, all kinds of storage options, and flooring and cabinetry for residential and commercial garages," says Lorenzi. "We can create garage glam, or a man cave -- whatever it takes to bring that unused area from 'no place to show place.'"

Located in Soutbury, Conn., Attitude Garage, whose clients are represented in force in Fairfield and Westchester Counties, is a unique outfit. Their 20-foot mobile showroom allows them to visit and service customers on-site. "We are not a franchise so our customers can get a totally custom design look," says Lorenzi. They use Cad renderings so their clients can see ahead of time what their finished space will look like.

Sometimes his clients get carried away with the outcome. Lorenzi says, "We did a job for a woman who races Porches and when we completed her installation – including slatwall (for hanging objects) flooring and cabinetry – she was jumping and whooping around her garage in such delight."

Instant gratification also plays a role in Attitude's success, as the team can easily transform a garage from grunge to glam in less than two days.

The company brings a wealth of expertise to its clients. RJ boasts a background of more than 20 years in custom homebuilding and design, and Lee spent a "lifetime" working on Porsches and Ferraris, and built "street rods" from scratch. His 80 year-old father still races cars.

If your humble garage is but a boring automobile receptacle, you might want to think about an Attitude Garage upgrade. Who knows? You might be the next one dancing around your new car lift.
