Food Bargains Abound at Restaurant Week

Foodies, like avid shoppers, love a bargain and SoNo Restaurant Week offers some of the best deals around. The third event of its kind for the food-oriented downtown South Norwalk community takes place from June 13 to 18 and 17 restaurants have signed on to take part in the festivities. Each will offer specially designed, fixed-price menus at exceptionally reasonable prices.

The event is the creation of Scott Beck, owner of Match restaurant and The Loft martini bar on Washington Street. “We made some changes after the first restaurant week that were very well received," said Beck. "We added a second tier to accommodate the restaurants with lower price points so they could provide a benefit to their customers as well."

The format worked well and diners once again have the option to enjoy lunch and dinner at more moderately priced spots for $9.99 and $19.99 respectively. Black Bear, The Brewhouse, and O'Neill's are among those included in this category. At slightly pricier restaurants, like Strada 18, Chocopologie, and Kazu, menus will be offered at $14.99 and $29.99.

Don't expect any skimping on the part of the SoNo chefs. If the last two events were any indication of what's on the menu for restaurant week, the value you'll find at critically acclaimed restaurants like Match and Coromandel is nothing short of exceptional. That said, don't wait to make reservations. The best times and tables fill up quickly. One additional tip: park at the Maritime Garage across the street from the Aquarium and you'll pay just $1 for the entire evening.
