Farmer's Market Moves Out

The Norwalk Winter Farmer's Market is officially over and its spring iteration begun. Organized by Lexi Gazy of Gazy Brothers Farm, the market moved outside on Saturday, April 24 to Freese Park bordered by Wall Street, Main Street, and Brunell Boulevard. After a somewhat challenging first winter season indoors, organizer Gazy says she and the vendors are excited about what the warmer seasons ahead will bring to the market.

"The first day met with great enthusiasm," she said brightly. "Customers from neighboring towns as far as Pound Ridge, Greenwich, and Stratford stopped by along with Norwalkers." The market is a collaborative effort between Poko Management, Seligson Properties, the City, and Gazy Brothers Farm. Its purpose is to continue the revitalization of the historic district of Norwalk and to increase access to local agricultural commodities.

Along with Gazy's multitude of fresh produce which presently includes root vegetables such as carrots, beets, and potatoes, greens such as arugula, kale, and cabbage, and a limited quantity of unusual items like blue Hubbard squash, other vendors include Eaglewood Farm, which sells beef, pork, eggs, and salmon, Deercrest Orchard's apples, Jones Apiary's honey and more. As the weather continues to warm, more merchants will be added. In addition, the boys from Fat Cat City are expected to join the market, providing freshly baked Glorious Morning muffins and freshly brewed coffee. Local artists and musicians are slated as well. To join the market as a vendor or for more shopper information, contact Gazy at admin@gazybrothersfarm.net.
