Fairfield Prep Celebrates Spring Style

Coco Chanel once said, “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street; fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” And last week at the Dolce Center in Norwalk, there was plenty of fashion happening. Fairfield Preparatory School's Bellarmine Guild held its annual Spring Mother/Son Fashion Show. It was a beautiful evening filled with joy, laughter, delicious food and elegant fashion. As the mothers, fathers, women and men of the Prep community entered the venue, they mingled with one another during cocktail hour. Guests tried their luck at a raffle of generously donated gifts ranging from jewelry to cameras. Soon after, everyone made way to their seats in the dining hall for the fashion show.

The event showcased the Fairfield Prep Board Member mothers of seniors and their sons. They are invited to participate every year as a thank you for all the work they have done for the Prep community. Banana Republic of Trumbull, Helen Ainson Shoppe of Darien, Snappy Gator of Fairfield, Island Outfitters of Fairfield and Men’s Wearhouse of Trumbull and Westport provided the stylish looks for the evening. Fairfield Prep’s Prep Pride line was also on display. All of the models worked the room as if it were New York Fashion Week. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of them lands a modeling contract.

Guests were treated to both a buffet dinner and a slide show that included photos of the class of 2011 as young children. Senior, Ryan Brennan and the guild’s co-vice president, Dana Duffy — two well-loved members of the Prep community — were also honored in the slide show The evening ended with a beautiful presentation of a white rose to every senior mother who attended.

Old friends mixed with new faces made the evening sparkle, and many new friendships were created. And the women of Fairfield Prep modeled more than the latest fashions. They are the picture of strength and grace. And they definitely live up to the words of Ms. Chanel; they are women of ideas. And that’s always in style.
