And as an added bonus at the pre-Super Bowl food event at the Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, you are invited to cast a vote for your favorites.
A total of 28 award winning chefs and restaurants are pitted against each other in the contest. When you arrive, you get a pencil, ballot and spoon. Then slurp down 32 decadent samples of chowder, soup and bisque and decide who has the best.
Food and football fans alike are invited to experience this culinary competition from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., then go home to watch the big game later that evening.
The Chowdafest competition features 32 entries from 29 restaurants, including: Bistro 7 in Wilton, Brennan’s Tap Room in Norwalk, Brewhouse in Norwalk, Cask Republic in Stamford, Donovan’s in Norwalk – defending New England clam chowder champion, Guvnor’s Brewery in Norwalk, Mansion Clam House in Westport -- two-time champion, Old Post Tavern in Fairfield, Post 154 in Westport, Rory’s in Darien, Restaurant at Rowayton Seafood in Rowayton, Southport Brewing Company in Southport and Stamford -- two-time champion -- and Tavern on Main in Westport, among many others.
The event benefits Connecticut Food Bank.
Chowdafest costs $12 for adults and $5 for kids ages 6 to 12. Tickets are on sale at the arena box office or at any Fairfield County Stop & Shop with a $2 per ticket discount. Dressing in your favorite football jersey is encouraged.
