Enjoy a Tax Free Shopping Spree

This week is "Tax Free Week" in Connecticut. Shoppers throughout the state are taking advantage of zero tax on clothing and shoes costing less than $300.

"The tax break makes back-to-school shopping so much easier," says Shana Moredock, a Fairfield mother of two. "Clothes, shoes, jackets—it all adds up pretty fast, so the percentage off is helpful."

Connecticut sales tax is 6 percent, so shoppers stand to save a bundle. And since all clothing items under $50 are never taxed, now is the time to purchase those higher ticket items for fall. With all that money you'll save, you may just have enough left over to splurge on something special for yourself. "Tax Free Week" runs through Aug. 21. Shop now, because bargains are always in style.
