Drink Enough Water

It seems everyone nowadays has a water bottle in their hand or at their fingertips. Not consuming enough fluids can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs when there isn't enough water in the body to carry out normal bodily functions. But even mild dehydration can make you feel tired and drained of energy, which leads to the question: how much water should an individual drink per day?

Each day the human body loses water through breathing, perspiration and elimination. In order for a body to function normally, water must be replenished by consuming fluids and foods containing water (fruits such as watermelon contain high amounts of fluids).

Generally speaking, drinking an eight-ounce glass of water eight times a day is sufficient (if you're not exerting yourself, particularly in warm, humid weather). But drinking enough fluid -- not necessarily water -- will also suffice to keep you hydrated.

In short, drink when you're thirsty and make sure your urine is clear and copious.
