Do You Know What Psoriasis Is, Fairfield County?

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- When a wealthy realty TV star gets a nasty skin condition with an itchy name like "psoriasis," Fairfield County stargazers may be wondering "Oh no, what will happen if I get that disease?"

Model Kim Kardashian, of the show Keeping Up With the Kardashian, has the non-life-threatening condition, which is characterized by red blotchy marks on the skin, reports Life & Style magazine. The disease, which is not contagious, is caused when "the immune system sends out faulty signals that speed up the growth cycle of skin cells," according to the National Psoriasis Foundation

Psoriasis can be itchy, painful and unattractive and can occur at any age, Wikipedia says. There is no cure but it is often treated with creams and other therapies.
