Damp Air Turns into Clean Water

Emptying the water tank from a dehumidifier is a daily chore on these hot and humid summer days. But Eva Balazs has turned this task into a family project by helping her children, Laszlo and Vivian, refresh their blueberry bushes with water they’ve collected from her basement dehumidifier.

It’s amazing how much water you can get from thin air. Did you know this water is super-clean and soft, just like fresh water in a mountain stream? It hasn’t been subjected to the harsh chemicals of city water treatment plants or the salt bath of well water softener systems.

So, what do you do with the water you’re “harvesting” from your basement? Here are some great alternatives to dumping it down the sink:

*  Water your flowering pots and houseplants: they love untreated water.

*  Water your vegetable garden: it’s clean water for organic veggies.

*  Use it for washing cashmere sweaters -- they’ll be softer than ever.

*  Give the dog a rinse: you’ll be surprised at how soft his fur becomes.

*  Rinse the kids off after a day at the beach.
