CT Capital Is in Good Shape

Give yourself a pat on the back, CT. The recently released Forbes list of America's Ten Fittest Cities ranks Hartford as number nine. Not the best showing, but at least our state made the cut, with Hartford sandwiched between San Francisco at number eight and Austin in last place. Forbes credits the state capital's "disproportionate" number of farmers markets as one major factor in the health of its residents, who have an obesity rate of 21.1%. Last year, Governor M. Jodi Rell delivered a proclamation at the West Hartford Farmers Market in honor of National Farmers Market week (August 3 - 9). “When you think about it, farmers markets make perfect sense," she said. "They are healthy for our families, healthy for our economy and they showcase the best of Connecticut agriculture."
