Cook Up Something Sweet for Hanukkah

Sablé Gallette Cookies are an easy way to sweeten your Hanukkah celebration this weekend.

What you’ll need:

2 cups flour

1 cup parve butter

½ cup sugar

2 egg yolks

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1-2 tablespoons orange blossom water

1 ½ tablespoons cold water, divided into 1 tablespoon and ½ tablespoon

Pinch of salt

To prepare:

Preheat your oven to 350°F. Put flour, butter (chopped into chunks), salt and sugar in a food processor and mix briefly. Incorporate one egg yolk, vanilla, orange blossom water and 1 tablespoon cold water. Blend until mixture become dough. Grease parchment paper lightly with butter and roll out dough. Cut cookies using a circular cookie cutter and decorate the edges by making finger indentations all around. Whisk ½ tablespoon cold water together with remaining egg yolk and brush mixture onto the tops of the cookies. Using a fork, make criss cross marks on the tops of each cookie, then sprinkle lightly with sugar. Place cookies and parchment paper onto a cookie sheet and bake until edges turn golden (about 35 minutes).
