Chef Nischan Shows His Green at Dinner

Inspired food and inspired conversation are on the menu as Chef Michel Nischan of Westport's The Dressing Room joins with the Greenwich Historical Society for a special Green Market Dinner on July 16. Sustainable food is the featured topic for the evening, which begins with a cocktail reception at 6 followed by dinner and a discussion led by Nischan at 7.

The winner of two James Beard Foundation awards, Nischan is the president and CEO of the Wholesome Wave Foundation, an organization dedicated to sustainable food. He is also the author of a new book, “Sustainably Delicious” (Rodale Press). Dinner guests will be able to buy a signed copy of the book during the cocktail hour, and tickets for just this portion of the evening will be available as well.

The event is part of GHS’ Green Market Series, a weekly farmers’ market that is held on Tuesdays and Fridays and is designed to continue a Bush-Holley House tradition of creative and convivial meals based on foods in season. Set amid the same lush landscape that inspired the many artists who visited Bush-Holley House when it was the hub of the American Impressionist movement, the garden-to-table dinner will be based on local, seasonal fare and catered by homegrown chef Jeff Pandolfino, who will collaborate with Nischan on the menu.

Tickets for the cocktail hour and book signing are $25. For the full evening, which includes a four-course dinner with wine, the cost is $125. Reservations can be made by calling (203) 869-6899, ext. 10. Group tables for eight and 10 are available.
