Chartreuse And Purple Accent Neutrals

If you want to know whether Maggie Nagle likes her job, just ask her and watch a big smile light up her face. Maggie works for Osborne & Little, one of my favorite home fabric houses. Her job takes her all over New England with a trunk bursting with the latest fabrics and wallpapers designed by some of the leading lights of the British design trade.

"My job is to show our new collections, which come out in the Spring and Fall," Maggie told me. "I also work with interior designers and decorators and help them come up with coordinated schemes."

Osborne & Little is a family-owned, London-based company that represents designers and makers of high-end textiles and wallpapers sold directly to the trade. Among the famous designers O & L features are Designers Guild, Nina Campbell, Liberty, Lorca and their own in-house designs.

I asked Maggie what colors are selling well at the moment. "Everyone still loves neutrals, but I'm seeing a lot of primary colors -- and our big sellers are anything in chartreuse, aqua and purple. Our fabrics are like art – they appeal to people who have a strong sense of color, fashion and design."

A graduate of Fairfield University with a degree in interior design, Maggie says her training is invaluable in helping her advise the designers with whom she works. When she isn't traveling all over New England, she can be found at home in East Norwalk with her pug, Monty.
