Bike Walk Connecticut will host 10- and 25-mile bike rides through Hartford's verdant parks and vibrant neighborhoods. And it will offer four different one-hour walking tours of the historic downtown area. For those who are pro-fun but anti-sprawl, anti-pollution and anti-couch potato, this is the biking and walking event for you.
All tours begin and end in Bushnell Park. The registration fee, which ranges from $25 to $40 depending on the timing of registration, includes a T-shirt, route map and refreshment stops, with fruit, energy bars and water. And if you or your bike fizz-out midway, wagons will be available to pick you up and take you back to the park. And don't worry about hats, nuts or bolts: there is a helmet fitting booth and an on-site mechanic.
The tour, back after a one-year hiatus, begins at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11. Registration begins at 7 a.m.
