Be Aware Of Porch Pirates, Advises Norwalk Police Department

NORWALK, Conn. -- 'Tis the season ... for porch pirates.

The Norwalk Police Department urges Fairfield County resident to protect their packages with the following tips:

Have your package delivered to your workplace.
Require a signature for delivery.
Schedule the delivery when someone will be home.
Ask a trusted neighbor or friend to pick it up.
Arrange for the package to be left at the backdoor, so it's not visible from the road. Most of these thefts are crimes of opportunity.
Install video surveillance.
